Hi everyone,
Nick Rozar, a Stuyvesant baseball alumni, has started up a new business. Check out his website at Hetmans.com. Congrats on your new venture!!!!
To all alumni, players and parents,
This year there has been a big push by the AD and AP of Phys. Ed. to get all the teams at Stuyvesant to change back to our original name of the Peglegs. So as of this year, we will be known as the Peglegs and no longer the Hitmen.
I know this has bothered some “Hitmen” alumni but I do feel strongly that this might help school sports pride and unity. Having 42 teams at Stuyvesant and 38 that have different names other than Peglegs does not show any pride or unity. I think Stuyvesant is the only high school in the city that does not have a banner in the front entrance saying “Welcome to the home of the ______”. It would take an entire wall to fit every team name.
I hope everyone understands my feeling about this and apologize to anyone disappointed at the change. This year’s varsity group has really embraced the name change and our new “old” logo. I am hoping for a great season.
Sincerely,
Coach Carlesi
Please Note:
Due to rain cancellation the Fall JV – Varsity Scrimmage has been rescheduled. The Scrimmage will take place Friday, October 16 at 4:30pm at Prospect Park Parade Grounds, Field 3.
As our fall tryout season winds down – and before the cold weather drives us indoors – we’d like to invite everyone to our Fall JV- Varsity Scrimmage.
Please join us and meet fellow Stuyvesant Baseball parents, learn more about the team and the spring season, and enjoy a fun-filled evening of camaraderie and baseball.
Please let us know if you’re coming by sending an email to Joy Devrieshenize, jdevriesheinze@gmail.com, by Wednesday, October 7 (so that we can have enough food and hot drinks on hand).
If the game is rained out we will try to reschedule it for the following weekend.

The Stuyvesant varsity baseball season came to an end yesterday with a loss to George Washington HS in the first round of the playoffs. Although the score was 12-2, the game was much closer then the score would lead you to believe. We began the game missing four starting players due to a late start of an AP exam. Many players had to play out of position or in a position that they never played before. Matthew Cook pitched into the 4th, striking out three and walking only one batter. Eric Morgenstern played SS (usually 2nd base) and had 6 put-outs. Khyber Sen played 2nd (usually P or OF) and made an amazing catch over his head to save two runs. Max Schnieder played 3rd (usually OF or C ) and got 1 hit and an RBI.
I want to thank our seniors for their hard work during a tough season. And I’d like to thank all the alumni players and parents who showed up yesterday. As always thank you for all your support.
