Shout it from the rooftops..! Your Peglegs are the Manhattan champions.. after stunning GW at Pier 40 by a 6-3 score. Ben Zenker pitched a CG with 7Ks and had a double, single and 2 rbi’s. Max Mah sparked our offense again scoring 2 runs. Julian Singer had 2 hits including crushing a 2 rbi double. Jordan Gray (rbi, run), Luca Bielski, Julian Cunningham and Elias Bernstein (run) all came through with singles when we needed them. Great team win. Great team.

Stuyvesant Peglegs JV Beats George Washington HS
Stuyvesant Peglegs JV wins contest against George Washington HS, 6-3. Stuyvesant fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ben Zenker singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
The Peglegs scored five runs in the second inning. Stuyvesant’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Jordan Gray and Julian Cunningham and doubles by Julian Singer and Zenker.
Zenker led the Stuyvesant Peglegs JV to victory on the hill. He went five innings, allowing three runs on one hit and striking out seven.
Ayendy took the loss for George Washington HS. He lasted two innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out four.
Stuyvesant racked up eight hits on the day. Singer and Zenker each had multiple hits. Zenker and Singer each collected two hits to lead the Peglegs.
Cesar went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead George Washington HS in hits. George Washington HS tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Justin led the way with two.

Stuyvesant Peglegs JV’s Bielski Throws No-Hitter To Defeat Manhattan Center For Science & Math
Luca Bielski was brilliant on the pitcher’s mound on Thursday, as he threw a no-hitter to lead Stuyvesant Peglegs JV past Manhattan Center for Science & Math 20-1.
Stuyvesant Peglegs JV fired up the offense in the first inning, when Julian Singer singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Bielski pitched Stuyvesant Peglegs JV to victory. He lasted five innings, allowing zero hits and one run while striking out 13.
Joshua took the loss for Manhattan Center for Science & Math. He allowed four hits and 12 runs over two innings, striking out one.
Stuyvesant Peglegs JV smacked one home run on the day. Elias Bernstein put one out in the fourth inning.
Stuyvesant Peglegs JV saw the ball well today, racking up nine hits in the game. Masaka Mizuno, Singer, and Bernstein all collected multiple hits for Stuyvesant Peglegs JV. Bernstein, Singer, and Mizuno each managed two hits to lead Stuyvesant Peglegs JV. Bielski led Stuyvesant Peglegs JV with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with ten stolen bases.

Our Peglegs battled GW early and throughout this game.. down 3-2 and down 6-5 there was plenty of fight, and chances. Down 8-5 we loaded the bases with 0 outs… but just couldn’t cash in our opportunities. Then, the wheels fell off a bit, in a game wasn’t near as bad as the final score (14-5) shows. Pitching, Ben Zenker had 4Ks in 4IP but our defense let up, and made him work harder. Max Mah relieved and battled, but again.. we didn’t make the plays behind him, that would have kept this a far closer game. Luca Bielski had a solid game behind the plate, and was walked twice (Ben walked 3x). Max had 3 hits, to lead the offense. Jordan Gray singled and had 2 RBI. Masataka Mizuno, Julian Singer and Jude Rizzo singled. We had 8 BBs and plenty of chances for running up the score but, just didn’t get the big hits today.

Stuyvesant Peglegs JV Loses Lead Early In Defeat
Stuyvesant Peglegs JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 14-5 loss to George Washington HS on Wednesday. George Washington HS scored on a groundout by Julio in the first inning, a single by Cesar in the second inning, and a triple by Gerald in the second inning.
The Stuyvesant Peglegs JV struggled to contain the high-powered offense of George Washington HS, giving up 14 runs.
George Washington HS pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second Cesar singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs and Gerald tripled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Stuyvesant Peglegs JV put up three runs in the fifth inning. Jordan Gray had an RBI single in the inning to lead the run scoring.
George Washington HS scored six runs in the sixth inning. George Washington HS big bats were led by Ayendy and Gerald, who all drove in runs.
Justin got the start for George Washington HS. He went four and a third innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out seven.
Ben Zenker started the game for Stuyvesant Peglegs JV. He surrendered six runs on four hits over four innings, striking out four. Max Mah threw two innings out of the bullpen.
Mah went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Stuyvesant Peglegs JV in hits.
George Washington HS racked up ten hits in the game. Gerald, Ayendy, and Cesar all had multiple hits for George Washington HS. Gerald led George Washington HS with three hits in four at bats.

At Pier 40, our JV tonight showed its depth & spirit — as 3/4 starters were unable to play/ being stuck in an AP history exam to 6:30 (!). Graphics Campus held this one close, score was 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 across the first 2 innings.. as not much was going our way in the field or base-paths (no need to mention that, here, they know). But our starter, Ben Zenker, battled early, overcame our 6 errors and found an answer within each inning (94 pitches) to keep them down, eventually dominating over 5 innings (12 K’s, 2 H, 2 BB). On offense, Ben batted 2nd and had 3Rs, 2H (double) and 2 RBI. Ben combined with SS Luca Bielski  (triple, 2R) and C Jordan Gray (2H, triple, 2 RBI) for a monster game for today’s 1-2-3 batters. We also had 9 walks (RF Zaid Malik had 2 and scored 2 runs).. and ran all over their catcher/pitchers (notable was Steven Zakin stealing 2nd, 3rd and then causing the game’s only balk). With 5 runs in the bottom of the 5th, we eventually mercy’d them by a 11-1 score.. on Jordan’s “walk-off RBI triple.

Stuyvesant Peglegs JV Takes The Game Over Graphic Communication Arts In A Blow-Out Victory, 11-1

The Peglegs blew out Graphic Communication Arts 11-1 on Thursday, firing up the offense in the first inning. Stuyvesant put up five runs in the fifth inning. The offensive firepower was led by Zaid Malik, Luca Bielski, Ben Zenker, and Jordan Gray, all knocking in runs in the inning. Zenker earned the victory on the hill, surrendering one run on two hits over five innings, striking out 12.

Unfortunately today the Peglegs, once again, dropped their first round playoff game and are now done for the season. It has been a great year for the most part. We far exceeded our expectations this season and won some big games but we have to start winning the bigger games.

On a positive note, Jared Asch has the most wins in all of the PSAL AAA and will be getting an award at the championship game at Yankee stadium. Jared finished the season with 6 wins and an ERA of 1.46 and Michael Gillow is 2nd in all of AAA in slugging percentage with .739.

I want to thank all the seniors for their hard work over the years and for putting up with Coach Hahn and myself. I also want to thank Jimmy Wendt for volunteering his time to help coach the team. He was a huge asset to us this year and hope he will return next year.

To the FSB board, Joy DeVries, Olivia Lee, Susan Asch and Stephen Hubbell, none of this season would been possible without you. Thank you for always being there!!!!

To all the alumni and administrators who came out today and always to watch us, it means so much to us that we always have your support. And a special thanks to Mike Schneider who is always generous on giving us the field even though our permits run out.

Our luncheon and awards day will be announced soon and don’t forget the alumni game coming up.  Thank you all for a wonderful season, we will miss our seniors next year.

Stuyvesant fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-0 loss to Susan Wagner on Wednesday. The Peglegs struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Wagner, giving up eight runs.

A single by Jared Asch in the second inning was a positive for Stuy. Asch took the loss for the Peglegs. He allowed six hits and six runs over five innings, striking out three and walking zero. Perry Wang, Jeremy Rubin, Franklin Liou, Malcolm Hubbell, Asch, Ronin Berzins, and Max Onderdonk each collected one hit to lead Stuyvesant.

Today the Peglegs dropped their 6th and final game of the regular 4-2 to John Bowne HS. Lack of situational hitting and 3 unearned runs did us in.
The Peglegs finish the regular season 10-6 in the PSAL AAA division. The playoff seeding will be out tonight around 9pm. We are hoping for a top 15 spot.
All the hard work the boys put in this year was worth it. Our expectation were on the low side at the beginning of the season but this team really came together to excel.
Coach Hahn, Jimmy and myself are so proud of this team and what they accomplished this regular season.

Stuyvesant PEGLEGS Varsity Fall Short To John Bowne, 4-2

John Bowne got on the board in the first inning when Eslinyer Marinez Veras singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, Stuyvesant tied things up at one. Malcolm Hubbell singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
John Bowne pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Marinez Veras singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.
Montenegro led things off on the hill for John Bowne. He surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out six.
Hubbell was on the hill for Stuyvesant. He allowed five hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking zero. Khyber Sen threw four innings in relief.
Michael Gillow went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Stuyvesant in hits. The Peglegs stole nine bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Gillow led the way with four.
John Bowne totaled nine hits in the game.

JV crushed Manhattan Ctr. on Friday at Parade Grounds, 18-0. Combined no-hitter by Elias Bernstein (8k’s) with Luca Bielski throwing a 9-strike/pitch inning in the 5th/final inning. We brought 45 batters to plate in our 5 turns at bat. Julian Cunningham had 5 rbi on 2 singles/walk. Jude Rizzo had 2 hits (lefty and righty). Julian Singer was 2-2. Ben Zenker scored 4Rs and nearly had 5. Jooahn Sur had 2 hits, 3 rbi. Jordan Gray had 2 doubles, 3 rbi. Glad we got the water cleared to get this game in!

Two Pitchers Work Together In No-Hitter As Stuyvesant Peglegs JV Defeats Manhattan Center For Science & Math

Luca Bielski struck out Joscr to get the last out of the game, as two pitchers teamed up to a throw a no-hitter in Stuyvesant’s 18-0 defeat of Manhattan Center for Science & Math on Friday.
Stuyvesant got things moving in the first inning, scoring one run when Julian Singer singled.

Stuyvesant scored six runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by singles by Jeremy Tang and Julian Cunningham, by Ben Zenker, and a double by Jordan Gray. Elias Bernstein earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Stuyvesant. He lasted four innings, allowing zero hits and zero runs while striking out eight. Bielski threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Stuyvesant racked up 12 hits on the day. Jude Rizzo, Gray, Singer, and Jooahn Sur each managed multiple hits. Stuyvesant was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Gray had the most chances in the field with eight.
