Yesterday, the Peglegs closed out the regular season with a 5-0 loss to Newtown HS. Jared Asch and Matt Deutsch held Newtown to only 3 hits but our defense didn’t hold up. We committed 4 errors which led to 5 unearned runs. The Peglegs also only managed 3 hits with a double from Malcolm Hubbell and singles by Luca Bielski and Cooper Nissenbaum.

We put the bat on the ball this time but only to hit right at their defense.

The Peglegs finish 7-9 in the regular season which I know was disappointing for the coaches and the team. The bright side is that we are headed to the playoffs again and anything can happen there. Remember, everyone’s record is 0-0 come Wednesday.

I want to thank the seniors for all there hard work over the years, you guys are are the hardest working team in all of Stuy and probably the league. Coach Hahn and I are so honored to have coached you over the years. Now let’s make some noise on Wednesday!!

Stuyvesant Peglegs Varsity Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Stuyvesant fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-0 loss to Newtown on Thursday. Newtown opened up scoring when Jared Asch induced Jackson Peña to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

A double by Malcolm Hubbell in the fourth inning was a positive for the Peglegs.

Eddy Martinez led things off on the hill for Newtown. He surrendered zero runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out five.

Asch started the game for Stuyvesant and surrendered five runs on three hits over five innings, striking out five. Matthew Deutsch threw one inning in relief. Luca Bielski, Cooper Nissenbaum, and Hubbell each collected one hit to lead the Peglegs.

Today the Peglegs pulled one game closer to .500 with a huge win over Newtown H.S. final score 4-2.

Malcolm Hubbell pitched a great game and lasted 6 innings.Great at bats and timely hitting pushed the 4 runs a crossed the plate.

We are 7-8 in league play.

Stuyvesant Peglegs Varsity beat Newtown 4-2 on Wednesday

After Newtown scored one run in the top of the fifth, Stuyvesant answered with one of their own. Newtown scored when Luis Reyes singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The Peglegs then answered when Luca Bielski singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Stuyvesant pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Bielski drew a walk, scoring one run and Max Mah was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Malcolm Hubbell was the winning pitcher for Stuyvesant. He lasted six innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out three. Jared Asch threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen. Asch recorded the last three outs to earn the save.

Stuyvesant totaled five hits. Cooper Nissenbaum and Bielski each racked up multiple hits.

Another game for the Peglegs and another loss. The Peglegs are now 6-8 in league play.

Jeremy Rubin was strong against our rival Beacon HS striking out 6 and giving up only 3 earned runs in a complete game. The Peglegs could only muster 3 hits on the day and left 7 on base. Once again the lack of the big hit with runs in scoring position has been a killer this year. Final score 4-1.

Just been a really tough year.

Stuyvesant PEGLEGS Varsity Outdone By Beacon, 4-1

In the first inning, Beacon got their offense started when Jenkins doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.
Stuyvesant evened things up at one in the bottom of the first inning when Franklin Liou singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Beacon pulled away for good with one run in the third inning. In the third an error scored one run for Beacon.
Sorel was the winning pitcher for Beacon. He surrendered one run on three hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out five. Jenkins threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jeremy Rubin took the loss for Stuyvesant. He lasted seven innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out five.
Liou, Jared Asch, and Malcolm Hubbell all had one hit to lead Stuyvesant.
Jenkins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Beacon in hits. Beacon didn’t commit a single error in the field. Hulburt had 11 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Once again the Peglegs dropped another one to Franklin Lane HS at the pier yesterday 7-3. Again, the lack of the big hit hurt us. Our on base percentage was .425 but our BA for the game was .136. Lane gave us 12 free bases but we couldn’t score. Malcolm Hubbell Matt Deutch threw well but you can’t win ball games if you can’t hit.

Stuyvesant Peglegs Varsity Fall Short To Franklin K. Lane , 7-3

Franklin K. Lane took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Tavarez doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run and Garces- Ramirez singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Diaz pitched Franklin K. Lane to victory. He lasted five innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out two. Polanco threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Malcolm Hubbell took the loss for Stuyvesant. He surrendered six runs on six hits over five and two-thirds innings, striking out six.

Cooper Nissenbaum, Hubbell, and Owen Potter each managed one hit to lead Stuyvesant. The Peglegs stole 12 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Hubbell led the way with four.

The Peglegs dropped a tough one today to Franklin Lane HS, 7-3. Lack of solid hitting and terrible fielding gave the game to them. 4 errors in 2 innings really hurt us early and we couldn’t recover. Once again our OBP was through the roof but the inability to get the big hit is still there. We were given 11 free bases but struck out 13 time. Jeremy Rubin kept us in the game in relief throwing 3.2 innings with 6 strikeouts and 2 hits and 1 run.

Early Lead For Franklin K. Lane Seals Fate For Stuyvesant Peglegs Varsity

Stuyvesant opened up scoring in the first inning, when Franklin Liou drew a walk, scoring one run. Then Stuyvesant watched the game slip away and couldn’t recover in a 7-3 loss to Franklin K. Lane on Tuesday. Franklin K. Lane scored on a double by Pichardo in the first inning, a single by Peralta in the first inning, and a groundout by Garces- Ramirez in the second inning.

Pichardo was the winning pitcher for Franklin K. Lane. He surrendered three runs on four hits over six innings, striking out ten. Garces- Ramirez and Diaz entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Owen Potter took the loss for Stuyvesant. He surrendered five runs on five hits over one and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.

Max Mah, Luca Bielski, Cooper Nissenbaum, Jared Asch, and Jeremy Rubin each had one hit to lead the Peglegs.

Our JV Peglegs beat Brandeis 24-1 today, and it wasn’t even that close. Jordan Gray paced the team with a grand slam HR. Jeremy Lee had 3 hits and 4 RBI. Anthony Rivello had 2H in one inning, including an RBI double. Doubles hit soccer nets at Pier 40’s OF and could have been HRs – from Ethan Kirschner, Cameron Nelson, Christopher Liu, and Jeremy. Ethan Kirschner started and dominated – throwing a perfect game (6k’s) until taken out. Because of our long team at-bats, he was relieved by Ben Harwayne who K’d 3 — but con’t the combined No-Hitter. (Many on bench today, got 3 ABs.) Ben walked 4x in 5 plate appearances in the 9-hole. We could have broken-off 30 or 40 runs today, if we had wanted.

The Peglegs got back in the winning column today with a huge upset against their division rivals Beacon HS 3-0.

Jared Asch threw the game of his life today. He was stellar on the mound today striking out 6 and only walking 2 over 7 innings. Jeremy Rubin, Jared Asch and Owen Potter each had an RBI in the game. And having Sam Levine back on the bench after his terrible injury was the pick me up this team needed. This was a great win!!!

With Jared On The Mound, Stuyvesant Peglegs Varsity Shuts Out Beacon

Jared Asch threw a gem on Friday for Stuyvesant, allowing no runs and besting Beacon by a score of 3-0 The pitching was strong on both sides. Asch struck out six, while Moss sat down seven.

Asch was credited with the victory for Stuyvesant. He went seven innings, allowing no runs on three hits and striking out six. Moss took the loss for Beacon. He allowed five hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven.

Luca Bielski, Asch, Malcolm Hubbell, Jeremy Rubin, and Owen Potter each collected one hit to lead Stuyvesant.

The Peglegs dropped another one to John Bowne HS in 8 innings. We had decent pitching and hitting but 5 errors killed us in the field. The Peglegs are now 5-5 in league play and will face off against Beacon tomorrow at Pier 40 and 4:15pm.

It came down to the last play, but Stuyvesant was on the wrong end of a 10-9 defeat to John Bowne on Tuesday. The game was tied at nine with John Bowne batting in the bottom of the eighth when Moquete doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Stuyvesant collected 11 hits and John Bowne had 14 in the high-scoring affair. Stuyvesant took an early lead in the second inning. Malcolm Hubbell drew a walk, scoring one run.

Stuyvesant notched four runs in the second inning. The offensive firepower by Stuyvesant was led by Jeremy Rubin and Jared Asch, all knocking in runs in the inning. John Bowne struck back with three runs in the bottom of the inning. The offensive firepower by John Bowne hs was led by Rondon and Rivas, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, John Bowne tied things up at nine. Bowne scored two runs when Perez doubled.

Hubbell took the loss for Stuyvesant. He allowed four hits and three runs over one inning, striking out three. Owen Potter started the game for Stuyvesant. He went five innings, allowing six runs on nine hits and striking out five, Stuyvesant tallied 11 hits. Potter, Rubin, Asch, and Max Mah all had multiple hits.

Caprio was the winning pitcher for HS of Construction. He lasted six and a third innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out five. Aybar threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Owen Potter took the loss for Stuyvesant . He went three innings, allowing seven runs on four hits and striking out four.

Max Mah, Paul Liou, Cooper Nissenbaum, Jared Asch, Malcolm Hubbell, and Potter each collected one hit to lead Stuyvesant. The Peglegs were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Luca Bielski made the most plays with 13.

HS of Construction racked up seven hits in the game. Thomas and Gomez each had multiple hits for HS of Construction. HS of Construction didn’t commit a single error in the field. Kelly had six chances in the field, the most on the team.

The Peglegs dropped their 3rd game yesterday 7-5. Cardozo is one of the best teams in the city and we came one hit away from beating them. Again, the big hit still eludes us. We left 11 men on base and again did not get an extra base hit.

Stuyvesant stayed in it until the end, but Benjamin Cardozo pulled away late in a 7-5 victory on Tuesday. The game was tied at five with Cardozo batting in the top of the seventh when Pena homered on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs.

Stuyvesant lost despite out-hitting Cardozo ten to eight.

In the first inning, Cardozo got their offense started. Angeles singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

The Peglegs knotted the game up at five in the bottom of the sixth inning. Stuyvesant scored two runs when Malcolm Hubbell doubled.

Hart toed the rubber forCardozo. He allowed six hits and two runs over five innings, striking out nine.

Jared Asch was on the hill for Stuyvesant . He surrendered five runs on seven hits over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Jeremy Rubin and Matthew Deutsch entered the game as relief, throwing one inning each.
