Devils 0000001
Nathan Chandler

The Hitmen grabbed an early lead against Graphic Communication Arts and won a 17-0 victory behind a strong pitching performance from Nathan Chandler. Chandler allowed no runs, walked two and struck out five during his four innings of work.

A passed ball, a passed ball, an error, and a passed ball during the first inning and a passed ball in the second inning helped the Hitmen put some runs on the board early.

Ben Sydel had two extra-base hits for Hitmen. Jack Archer, Nick Kalantzopoulos and Sydel helped lead the Hitmen. They combined for three hits and three RBIs.

The Hitmen added four more runs in the top of the third. A bases loaded walk scored Mike Mazzeo for the inning’s first run. That was followed up by Alex Mandell’s single, scoring Kalantzopoulos.

The Hitmen scored eight more runs in the top of the fourth leaving no doubt of the outcome and ending the game after just four innings.

Get Ready!

Dear Stuyvesant Parents, Players and Alumni,

As Bill Veeck said, “There are only two seasons—winter and baseball.”

Even though there’s still snow on the ground, baseball season is almost here!

“Opening Day” of the PSAL baseball season is on March 1…our first Varsity scrimmage is scheduled for March 9…and the Hitmen take the field for their first non-league game on Monday, March 10.

An updated list of Varsity games is posted on the Friends of Stuyvesant Baseball website. Please mark your calendars and come out to support the team! (The JV schedule will be posted as soon as it is available. In general, the JV season starts, and ends, a bit later than the varsity season.)

ALSO—please join us for our season-opening parents get-together on February 28th! Please visit the events calendar on the website for more information and to RSVP.

Go Hitmen.

Alumni Game – 2013

2013 Alumni Game Players
The players and coaches

Thanks again to everyone – coaches, players, alums and parents who helped and came out and enjoyed the day. Hope to see you all next year.

Best reply to our Alumni Game invite so far:

“My name is Donald Ferrara (1956) and I was captain of the 1956 baseball team. I received your flyer about the alumni base ball game on sat 6/15/13. I am interested along with some other baseball alumni. Would you allow a couple of 75 year-olds take an at bat? Thank you.”

Just warning you youngsters that Donald and his co-captain Mel Wallis will be joining us on Saturday… so watch out.

Save the Date!
