Way to go Peglegs 6-0 on the season with a defeat of HS for Construction 7-3. Great performance by Jared Asch on the mound giving us 5 strong innings 77 pitches, 2 earned runs, 5 strikeouts and 2 walks. Jeremy Rubin and Jack Archer finished off the last 2 innings. Another good hitting day by Solomon Medintz, Joseph Halim, Kenneth Chu and Max Onderdonk who went 3-3 with an amazing drag bunt that caught their defense by surprise.

Great job guys, let continue playing hard tomorrow.

Stuyvesant PEGLEGS Varsity Jumps Out To Early Lead In Victory Over HS For Construction

The Stuyvesant PEGLEGS Varsity defeated HS For Construction 7-3 thanks to strong pitching from Jared Asch and timely hitting from Max Onderdonk, Joseph Halim, Solomon Medintz, and Jack Archer.

Construction captured the lead in the first inning,  but Stuyvesant equalized and went ahead for good on a single by Jack Archer and a groundout by Dean Steinman.  Tobias Lange hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the inning’s final run. Kenny Chu singled in a run in the second inning.

Stuyvesant answered a Construction score in the sixth when Solomon Medintz grounded out, scoring one run.

Jared Asch earned the win for Stuyvesant, going five innings, surrendering two runs, two hits, and striking out five. Archer threw one inning and earned the save, as he and Jeremy Rubin helped Stuyvesant finish off the victory.

Onderdonk, Halim, and Archer each collected multiple hits for Stuyvesant.  Onderdonk went 3-for-3 at the plate.

Congratulations to Tobias Lange for tossing a 4 hit complete game shutout against Francis Lewis HS and leading the Peglegs to their fifth consecutive win in league play. Also, good hitting by Joselh Halim, Dean Steinman, and Wilson Wong, and again our defense was almost perfect. Great job guys, two more to go this week

Our Stuy JV disassembled Midwood, 16-3 this afternoon at Parade Grounds. Eleven hits, 12 walks in 7 innings paced by Owen Potter 4-4 2B 5RBI and Franklin Liou 2-2 2BBs 5 SBs 3 RBI 4 Rs. Outstanding pitching from 4 Peglegs (including Frank, Matt, Cooper and a cameo by Jared) adds to our collective confidence as the season draws closer.

Tobias Lange threw a spectacular game with 9 strikeouts and 104 pitches in 6 2/3 innings. Tobias dominated on the mound today and Jeremy Rubin came in again to close out the game with a final strikeout. Great small ball and situational hitting won today’s game. Way to go guys. Coach Hahn and I are proud of you.

Congrats again to the Stuyvesant Peglegs on another win against Norman Thomas.3-0 on the season. Another great pitching performance by Jack Archer on the mound 6 innings 2 runs and hit a 2 RBI triple. Jeremy Rubin came in to close the game out in the 7th. Defensively we were perfect. Kenneth Chu made an amazing over the shoulder catch going down the right field line. Malcolm Hubbell and Dean Steinman with big RBI hits. Last time we beat this team was 6 years ago. Great job guys, proud of you!!

As our fall tryout season winds down – and before the cold weather drives us indoors – we’d like to invite everyone to our Fall JV- Varsity Scrimmage.

Please join us and meet fellow Stuyvesant Baseball parents, learn more about the team and the spring season, and enjoy a fun-filled evening of camaraderie and baseball.

  • Who: All parents / families / friends of our new and returning baseball players
  • When: Friday, October 14, at 7:00 p.m. (game time 7:00 p.m.) “under the lights
  • What: Friends, snacks, hot drinks, & baseball!
  • Where: Prospect Park Parade Grounds, Field 3 (On the corner of Parkside Avenue and Parade Place)Closest subway station: Q Train to Parkside at Ocean Avenue (walk West along Parkside) or Q Train to Church at East 18th (Exit on Caton Avenue, walk East on Caton Avenue, then North on Parade Place).

Max Schneider Awarded Sports Journalism Scholarship From TRA

Wed. September 7, 2016

Max Schneider will enter the freshman class at Vanderbilt University as the 2016 recipient of the 58th Fred Russell-Grantland Rice TRA Scholarship for sports journalism, it was announced Wednesday by the Thoroughbred Racing Associations (TRA).

Schneider, who graduated from Stuyvesant High School in New York, NY, was selected from a record 621 applicants for this year's scholarship in the amount of $25,000 per year for four years at Vanderbilt.
