The formula was the same – dominant starting pitching, this time by Paul Liou, and consistent hitting, led by Axel Riess who had two doubles and four rbi. Liou had another strong start and allowed only four baserunners in a six inning complete game, striking out twelve. He continues to get stronger as the season goes on. At the plate the Peglegs had eight runs by the middle of the second inning. Riess continued his hot hitting, as did Jeremy Lee and Ethan Kirschner who had two hits and two rbi each. Adam Lucey contributed a long double as well, looking confident at bat. Peter Carini reached base three times, keeping the pressure on Newtown all game. Stuy is now 10-2 as the regular season winds down. They face undefeated Richmond Hill twice next week in what should be a first place showdown.
