Malcolm Hubbell had a rough start on the mound but got better as the game went on. Matthew Deutsch came in relief and pretty much shut down the opposition’s offense. Michael Gillow had a 2 run homer in the bottom of the first to cut the lead to 1. Patient at bats, great blocking by Jeremy Rubinbehind the dish and Jared Asch flashing some leather at 3rd gave us our 4th win of the young season. Another great team win!!!!! Great going guys. [Adapted from GameChanger] Stuyvesant PEGLEGS Varsity Clinches Lead In Fifth Inning For Victory Over Newtown HS Stuyvesant stole the lead late and defeated Newtown HS 6-5 on Wednesday. The Peglegs were down 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when the tying and go-ahead runs scored. Stuyvesant earned the victory despite allowing Newtown to score three runs in the first inning. Newtown’s big inning was driven by an error on a ball put in play by Batista-espinal and a double by Cesar Garcia. Malcolm Hubbell was on the mound for Stuyvesant. He allowed five hits and five runs over four and a third innings, striking out four. Jeremy Rubin, Justin Heinze, Michael Gillow, and Max Onderdonk each collected one hit to lead Stuyvesant.
